| Crying The average infant of four to six weeks will cry up to one and one half hours a day without anything being wrong. Sleep The majority of the infant's time during the first few months of life is spent in sleep, totaling 18 to 20 hours daily. By six months of age, 16 to 18 hours and by one year of age, from 14 to 16 hours. By four to six weeks of age the infant should have acquired the habit of sleeping through the night. Sunlight and Fresh Air Sunburns occur easily, so expose an infant slowly. A healthy newborn can be taken out of doors in almost any type of weather properly dressed. |
