Colds and Upper Respiratory Infections

Infants are quite susceptible to colds and runny noses, and it is not uncommon for them to easily pick up colds from other members of the family, especially the mother, despite the fact that a great deal of care is taken to prevent this. Infants with stuffy noses are difficult to feed because as yet they haven't learned to breathe through their mouths adequately. They cannot breathe and eat at the same time. You will find that using a bulb syringe will be of great help to you. DO NOT ever give an infant or a child an oily nose drop. The use of these may result in serious respiratory complications.
